Pre-installation Preparation
Tools and Accessories: Prepare a ratchet wrench, socket, open-end wrench, torque wrench, screwdriver, jack, safety stand, and medium-strength thread locking adhesive. Confirm that the new 12V generator is compatible with the vehicle model. If the new generator does not come with a pulley, the pulley from the old generator can be removed and reused.
Vehicle Preprocessing: Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the handbrake, turn off the engine, and wait for it to cool down completely. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid short circuits. For some models, it is necessary to lift the right side of the vehicle with a jack, secure it with a safety stand, and remove the right front wheel and fender if necessary to facilitate operation.

If it is necessary to lift the vehicle body, secure it with safety stands immediately after lifting it with a jack. Never work relying solely on the jack, so as to avoid the vehicle body falling.

Standardize Bolt Tightening Torque
Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the specified torque. For example, when installing the alternator on the Nissan Lannia 1.6L, both the upper fixing bolt, the fixing nut of the lower through bolt should be tightened to 23 N·m, and the fixing nut of the positive wire should be tightened to 18 N·m. Insufficient torque may cause loosening, while excessive torque may result in thread stripping and component deformation. If replacing the pulley bolt, apply medium-strength thread-locking adhesive to prevent it from loosening and falling off during operation.
Ensure Accurate Component Alignment
Mount the alternator closely against the reference surface of the mounting bracket to avoid tilting. Meanwhile, make sure the alternator pulley, crankshaft pulley, and water pump pulley are on the same plane. This prevents uneven stress and abnormal wear on the drive belt. For models equipped with a turbocharger, pay attention to the clearance between the alternator and the turbocharger to avoid component interference during operation.

Precise and Secure Wiring Connections
Accurately connect the "B+" terminal and signal interface of the alternator to the corresponding wires, and ensure the interfaces are fully locked. When organizing the wiring harness, keep it away from moving components such as the drive belt and fan, and secure it with cable clips to prevent the wiring from getting tangled or worn.
Proper Belt Installation and Tension Adjustment
Route the drive belt around the grooves of each pulley in accordance with the original factory routing sequence, and avoid misalignment or distortion. When adjusting the tension, the optimal tightness is such that the belt can be easily bent to approximately 90 degrees by hand, or the middle of the belt can sink 1 - 2 centimeters when pressed. An overly loose belt is prone to slipping, which affects power generation efficiency, while an overly tight belt will accelerate bearing wear. Never use hard objects to pry and force the belt into place.
