Installation Method for 12V 0.8KW Starter of Honda Jazz
I. Core Safety Preparations Before Installation
Disconnect the negative battery cable of the vehicle (prioritize disconnecting the negative terminal to prevent component burnout caused by circuit short circuit); wrap the battery clamp with insulating tape and place it in a non-contact position.
Ensure the vehicle is in P gear (for automatic transmission) / neutral gear (for manual transmission), the handbrake is fully engaged, and the vehicle is parked on a flat surface with the engine off.
Prepare special tools: 10/12/14mm socket wrenches with extension bars, torque wrench, flathead/cross screwdrivers, insulating gloves; clean oil stains and dust around the starter mounting position.
Inspect the integrity of the new 12V 0.8KW starter accessories: no deformation or damage to the drive gear, solenoid switch, mounting bracket, fixing bolts and wiring terminals, and no grease leakage.
II. Core Installation Steps for the Starter Body
Align the drive gear end of the starter toward the flywheel ring gear, fit it into the mounting positioning hole of the engine block, and insert the M8 positioning bolt (no need for tightening, only for positioning) to ensure the starter is closely attached to the engine block with no gaps.
Insert the two M10 main fixing bolts (original Honda specification), and perform cross pre-tightening with a socket wrench (tighten the left side by 1/3 turn first, then the right side by 1/3 turn to prevent mounting position offset) with a pre-tightening torque of approximately 10N·m.
Use a torque wrench to fasten the main fixing bolts to the original factory standard torque of 28±2N·m and the positioning bolt to 15±2N·m; gently shake the starter after fastening to confirm no looseness or play.
Check the gap between the starter drive gear and the flywheel ring gear: the normal gap is 0.5-1.5mm. Excessive or insufficient gap will cause meshing abnormal noise, which can be fine-tuned with starter bracket gaskets (no need to add non-original gaskets if the original factory provides none).
III. Wiring Connection (Follow the Sequence of Thick Cable → Thin Cable → Grounding, Reverse Connection is Strictly Forbidden)
Thick power cable connection: Slide the copper terminal of the positive battery thick cable (red-black/pure red, 6-8mm²) onto the main terminal (marked "B+" / "+", the large terminal) of the starter solenoid switch, put on the gasket, and fasten it with a 12mm nut at a torque of 12±2N·m; pull the cable by hand after fastening to confirm no falling off.
Control cable connection: Slide the terminal of the ignition switch control cable (thin cable, 1.5-2.5mm², mostly blue/yellow) onto the auxiliary terminal (marked "S" / "IGN", the small terminal) of the starter solenoid switch, and fasten the screw with a cross screwdriver at a torque of 5±1N·m to avoid terminal cracking due to over-tightening.
Grounding circuit inspection: The starter body is grounded to the engine block through the mounting bolts, and no additional grounding wire is required. Inspect the paint surface at the engine block mounting position for no oxidation; if rust is present, polish it to bare metal with sandpaper to ensure good grounding conduction.

Key Installation Precautions for 12V 0.8KW Starter of Honda Jazz
I. General Safe Operation Precautions
Disconnect the negative battery terminal throughout the entire process (never disconnect the positive terminal first) and do not reconnect it until all wiring is completed, to prevent short circuits caused by tools touching the circuit, which may lead to battery burnout and fuse blowing.
Wear insulating gloves during operation to avoid contact between hands and high-temperature engine components (e.g., exhaust pipe) and wiring terminals, preventing scalds and electric shocks.
Prevent tools (sockets, wrenches) from touching the positive and negative terminals of the starter at the same time, to avoid arc generation due to instantaneous short circuit and damage to the solenoid switch.
II. Precautions for Confirming Accessory Adaptability
Inspect the factory lubrication state of the new starter: no drying or leakage of grease at the drive gear, no jamming at the moving parts of the solenoid switch, and no missing accessories (e.g., gaskets, bolts).
If installing a used starter, test its no-load speed and torque in advance to confirm no internal coil burnout or excessive brush wear.
III. Precautions for Body Installation Technology
Tighten bolts in strict accordance with torque standards and never tighten by hand feel: the main fixing bolts (M10) shall be tightened to 28±2N·m, and the positioning bolts (M8) to 15±2N·m. Insufficient torque will cause jitter during starter operation, while excessive torque may easily lead to thread slipping of the engine block and bolt fracture.
Ensure the starter is fully attached to the engine block with no gaps during installation. If there is a gap, check the alignment of the positioning holes and never force the bolts to correct the position to prevent deformation of the mounting location.
